International ride sharing platform Indriver has started its service in Kathmandu, the largest city in Nepal.

This allows real time deals (RTD) models to set fares for the route chosen by the passenger and get a counter offer directly from nearby drivers.

Unlike other ride-sharing apps that set the price of the algorithm, the driver allows passengers and drivers to independently determine the price of the ride.

If passengers receive more than one offer, they will be able to choose their ride based on the driver’s ETA, rating, price and vehicle model.

Drivers will also be able to choose any order based on price and distance, passenger rating, pickup location and the number of driver trips the passenger has made before.

Pavit Nanda, South Asia Public Relations Manager of Indriver, said that they are excited to bring Indriver to Nepal.

“Currently, we are operating our service in Kathmandu Valley,” she said. “We will soon be available in major cities of Nepal.”

At least 6 months after starting the service, the driver will not take any commission from the driver. The commission applicable thereafter will be comparatively less than that of other ride sharing service providers operating in Kathmandu.

So far, more than 4,000 drivers in Nepal have joined the driver. To book a ride request, passengers will need to enter information including pickup and dropup points and estimated fees in the app.

Drivers registered with the system will be able to receive instant notifications and then accept orders, reject orders and set their own fees for the trip.

The RTD model of the driver has made the power available to the general public by providing the facility of bargaining directly to the drivers and passengers.

For example, passengers traveling from Gogbu Bus Park in Kathmandu to Satdobato in Lalitpur have to pay a maximum of Rs 270 and from Thamel to Bouddhanath only Rs 130.
