You searched for a website on Google but it did not open, what to do? What to do if you open a video on YouTube but it is not available in your area? You have to keep your data safe online, what to do then?

The solution to the above problems is VPN. VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. In common parlance, virtual means unreal, or private.

What is a VPN made up of three words? Which VPN is secure and which is not? Which VPN is best to use? Today we are giving you information about all these.

What is a VPN and how does it work?

VPN is a service that protects your internet connection and keeps your identity secret online.

This creates an encrypted tunnel for your data and protects your online identity by hiding your IP address.

Suppose you have taken internet from any internet service provider (ISP) in Nepal. From which you use internet on mobile and computer. If you want to go to Google.com, the request will initially go to your service provider.

The service provider sends you to Google.com’s website. Now these service providers can also block in between. If Google.com is blocked, the ISP will not allow Google.com to open. In the meantime, the request is blocked. VPN helps in such cases.

After a certain configuration using VPN, Google.com’s data is encrypted and a tunnel is created in the blocked section. An encryption can be said to be a connection. When your computer sends a request to the ISP. And if the request you sent is using a VPN, it goes to the VPN’s server and not to the ISP’s server. Whether it’s in the US or Japan or the Netherlands.

The router does the same route to your request. The VPN server you use belongs to the country we call the VPN server and when it reaches the server it opens your encrypted data packet and the server takes you to Google.com.

Then there is the connection from the server to Google.com. So if sites like Facebook and Google are closed in Nepal, access can be done through VPN.

If you want to open a blocked site, your connection through VPN goes through VIP to VPN server and that VPN server takes you to that site.

Whatever the site replies, first it comes to the VPN server and then it connects to your internet. Here your ISP assumes that you are only connecting to that server. But only the VPN server knows where that server brought you from.

If you use public Wi-Fi somewhere, your data is more likely to be stolen. You can be monitored and whatever information or data you send from this network, if there is a hacker sitting there, it can be locked and your privacy can be abused. So it is advisable to use VPN when using public Wi-Fi.

Benefits of Using VPN

VPN has many advantages. You can use a VPN if your bank’s data and information are not known to your ISP or anyone else and you want to value privacy. Access to blocked websites is important, but it also helps to keep your identity confidential.

No one likes to be followed secretly by others. You don’t like being in detention, even if you have nothing to hide, imagine your internet browsing is your home.

The most valuable assets in this home are your personal information, browsing history and the websites you search and visit on the Internet.

How do you feel if an unknown person is secretly watching your every move in front of your house? Insecurity and fear may arise somewhere in the mind.

ISPs, hackers and the government can monitor your online activities if they wish. Now if you are doing bad things in it, that is another thing. But if someone is tracking you for no reason, it is a violation of your privacy.

Moreover, hackers can misuse secret secrets like your bank password, login ID, email, browsing history.

Just like you lock the door of your house, VPN online is your lock. It encrypts the information you send over the Internet, blocking your traffic and making it inaccessible to anyone.

This includes your ISP. Your Internet traffic is encrypted when you are browsing through VPN, so that no one knows your online activity.

VPN is not everyone’s solution but it is an extra layer of security that protects your internet traffic.

People working in countries with limited freedom of speech are using VPN-restricted services. VPNs can also be used by people in countries with authoritarian regimes to hide their IP addresses and provide extra security for their sensitive messages.

VPN you can run for free from Opera browser or Chrome extension. VPN can be used on mobile. For which paid, free and freemium apps are available. Premium VPN can also be run for free but you have to pay some fee for premium facility.

Proton VPN is a similar free premium app, in which you can find 23 servers in 3 countries. But you have to pay for high speed connection and more server. Nord VPN is another good VPN app but you have to pay a fee to use it. Express VPN is also a good VPN app but you have to pay a fee to use it too.

Use paid VPN over free

There are many VPNs that can be used for free. Better a poor horse than no horse at all. Because you use VPN for speed, security and privacy, it is difficult to find these features in free apps.

Such providers do not invest in server networks. Connections to free VPN are also not stable. Your IP address is more likely to be public. So instead of a free VPN, you should look for a VPN provider that you can trust.

You can easily set up VPN from the app or you can do it yourself. But manual setup takes a lot of time and is more likely to make mistakes. You can also add a VPN to your router.
